Schooling
The education system of Peaceat is decentralized and centered around self-discovery, individuality and social integration. Children start being taught as soon as they're able to form words. The system aims to have students to think for themselves and form their own personality. Discipline and correction is common, used to condition students into behaving.
Structure
Classes happen intermittently every few days, with children having leisure time between classes. This allows students to explore the world and have more time for themselves without being restricted to a single room, being forced to stay there for hours at a time. During leisure, students are often given tasks by scholars like cutting down a tree or make a painting to encourage them to do something productive with their time.
Esteemed Scholars
Scholars act as teachers for younger people, each one teaching a group of 3-4 simultaneously. They also double as mentors, guiding children through their self discovery and their brash nature. Scholars often hold structured debates among children to encourage independent and critical thinking.Curriculum
The education system has the following goals for teaching children:- Students are naturally brash and rude, teach them to drop this demeanor and become more mature
- Teach students about Peaceatian values and help them properly integrate into society
- Teach students how to properly haul, forage and do basic tasks
- Encourage critical thinking among students, teach them how to debate and doubt
Maturing
Students are expected to become more understanding of their surroundings and more passive. Once Peaceatians reach the age of 20, their schooling schedule is cut in half, only recieving a lesson once every 2 weeks. At 30, they should be fully integrated into society and their lessons stop altogether. Of course, this doesn't mean they should stop learning altogether. Citizens are free to consult scholars whenever they please.
